The Eight Part of Speech

 

Kata-kata dalam bahasa Inggris pada umumnya ada 8 (delapan) jenis yang disebut dengan The Eight Part of Speech. Sama seperti bahasa Indonesia yang mengenal ada jenis-jenis kata. Inilah delapan jenis kata dalam bahasa Inggris :

1. Noun (Kata Benda)
A word that refers to a person, place, thing, event, substance or quality.
'Doctor', 'tree', 'party', 'coal' and 'beauty'.



2. Verb (Kata Kerja) 
A word or phrase that describes an action, condition or experience.

The words 'run', 'keep' and 'feel 

3. Adjective (Kata Sifat)
A word that describes a noun or pronoun.
'Big', 'boring', 'purple', 'quick' and 'obvious' 

4. Adverb (Kata Keterangan)
A word which describes or gives more information about a verb, adjective, adverb or phrase.
In the phrase 'she smiled cheerfully', the word 'cheerfully' is an adverb. 
In the phrase 'the house was spotlessly clean', the word 'spotlessly' is an adverb. 

5. Pronoun (Kata Ganti)
A word which is used instead of a noun or a noun phrase.
She', 'it' and 'who' 

6. Preposition (Kata Depan)
A word which is used before a noun, a noun phrase or a pronoun, connecting it to another word.
in, on, at

7. Conjunction (Kata Hubung)
A word such as 'and', 'but', 'while' or 'although' that connects words, phrases and clauses in a sentence.

8. Interjection (Kata Seru) 
In grammar, an interjection is a word which is used to show a short sudden expression of emotion.
"Hey!" is an interjection.
